The Mill Field Conservation Group is a volunteer organisation formed to manage the Mill Field, an area of 33 acres, formally known as the Loddon Valley Open Space.
The Mill Field is a rare area of undeveloped open space between the village of Old Basing and Lychpit on the outskirts of Basingstoke, in Hampshire, England. For the last 10 years this formally agricultural land has been left undisturbed which has given it an appearance of being somewhat neglected. The Mill Field is owned by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council
The Conservation Group has two main objectives,
to manage the field for the benefit of conservation & wildlife,
to share what has been discovered with local residents and other visitors to the field
The field is in constant use by dog walkers, horse riders and has a small play area. In 2006 the site received Local Nature Reserve status from English Nature, demonstrating the successful implementation of the Management Plan..
